QKD Blog Hop - Techique Week
It is time again for the QKD Monday blog hop! You should have come here from my Saturday stamping partner Helene, if not, head back to the QKD blog and start from the beginning!
The theme for this week's blog hop is a technique -- spotlighting. I was unfamiliar with this technique before we decided to try it out, but I definitely believe that it is something that I will try again. I used the Mr. Stalone stamp; I love its whimsical flair and thought it was perfect for this technique.
Thanks for stopping by, now it is time to head off to Meredith's blog! I can't wait to see what she has created!
Don't forget the Lost Sale going on in the store. This is a wonderful time to pick up those stamps you have been dreaming of!!
Here is the complete list if you need it.

QKD Blog Hop - Color Challenge
The challenge for this week's QKD Blog Hop is a color challenge; we were to use shades of blue, white and grey or silver. You should have come here from my Saturday stamping partner Helene, if not, head back to the QKD blog and start from the beginning!
Again, I used the Frozen Dragon stamp by Melita! I cannot use this stamp too much; I love it so much!!! I used some more Basic Grey (yes, another older line) and added some glitter to my Dragon since he is frozen!! Of course, the glitter didn't show up very well, but it is there.
Thanks for stopping by, now it is time to head off to Meredith's blog! I can't wait to see what she has created!

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas . . .
QKD has to decide who is naughty and who is nice! I pulled out the Notebook Background Stamp and some Cosmo Cricket papers.
I stamped the Notebook stamp on the solid paper and then cut it out and layered it with some more Cosmo Cricket. I topped it off with a sheer ribbon and the four names on my list!
I do not know right now who is naughty or nice, so I left room for my answers. Wouldn't this be great for a Gift Card holder. You could put the person's name and nice on the outside for them to open up and find their gift.
Thanks so much for being a part of my 12 Days of Christmas and stamping with Queen Kat Designs.
The Wednesday group is hopping today, so start from the beginning of the QKD blog for all the wonderful versions of the sketch challenge for today.

On the Eleventh Day . . .
of Christmas, QKD gave to me a Frozen Dragon with some glitter!
I painted my tag with some blue acrylic paint, let it dry, added another coat and then some chunky glitter. I then used my heat gun to quick dry the project, but in the process my glitter melted! oops! But, I loved the way it turned out. It took on an icy appearance on the card, some of even turned a little black but it just added an extra dimension to the project. I then turned to my Frozen Dragon and added some glitter to him, just where it would normally fall if you were standing outside in the snow. A quick hit with the heat gun to melt it down like the glitter on the tag and he was complete. I added him to the card with a silver bow, and the tag was finished.
Wow, just one more day of my 12 days, and it might be one of my favorites! See you tomorrow.

On the Tenth Day and the QKD Monday Blog Hop
It's that time again for a QKD Royal Monday blog hop; this week the featured challenge is a sketch by QKD herself! You can check out the sketch at the QKD blog, and if you didn't start from there, go back and start from the beginning. But, if you are here from the wonderful Helene's blog, then you are on the right track.
So, back to the sketch. I pulled out some old Basic Grey (yeah, I have lots in my stash) and thought it went with my Frozen Dragon! He was perfect for Day 10 of my 12 Days of Christmas projects. Of course, if you look carefully, you can see that I also used the Fairy Background stamp as well on this project.
Of course, I do not know if he is unhappy because he is so cold or if it because I dressed him up in pink! No matter what he is just simply adorable!
So, it is time to head off to Meredith's blog hop! Happy hopping!

On the Ninth Day of Christmas . . .
QKD gave to me a kitty in a library. Meet Mr. Stalone! Isn't he just adorable!!! He is perched on the shelf, making sure that you do not peek!!! I used the same resist technique that I used previous with the Funky Trees tag and loved the way it turned out with the teal blue.
I added a flower and the Do Not Open sentiment from the Light of Christmas stamp set.
Tomorrow is the Monday QKD blog hop, and it is a sketch challenge! So make sure you head back to see Day 10's creation and those of the fabulous QKD design team.

On the Eight Day of Christmas . . .
QKD gave to me . . . Mr. Froggie. I think he is just so cute!!! I put him among some Christmas packages; the stamp set I used for the packages is from a previous QKD Royal Kit. While this kit is no longer in stock, make sure you check out the past kits and pick one up before they are gone. But, if you did not get the kit, then make sure you have a package stamp; you can find them in the Gift of Love Mini; the Happy Birthday to You set; the Fantasy Gift Stamp; Light of Christmas Stamp Set; the Ride with Me Stamp Set; and the Birthday Celebration Stamp Set. You can also find some great Christmas stamps and papers in the Dec. Royal Kit!
Mr. Froggie is so cute among the gift packages, definitely not the ordinary card, is it? But who doesn't love frogs!!
Thanks for staying with me so far; just a few more days of my 12 days of Christmas.

On the Seventh Day of Christmas . . .
QKD gave to me some Funky Trees! This is such a fun set; there are three different trees in the set, but I pulled out the one the one that I see is as a Christmas tree. Of course, it could be used for other types of projects.
I used a cool resist technique using wax paper; I lightly ironed the wax paper on the tag and then after some of the wax transferred, I then used my watercolors to paint over the top. After it dried, I gently rubbed off to reveal the resist and then stamped my tree image on the tag.
The To/From sentiment and the Do Not Open sentiment come from the Light of Christmas Stamp Set.
I then added some stickles for my star and my little ornaments on the tree. Again, a somewhat traditional set, but nontraditional at the same time. Come back tomorrow for day 8.

On the Sixth Day of Christmas . . .
QKD gave to me, my favorite things -- Coffee!!!
This is so not a traditional Christmas card, but it is so much fun! I used the same patterned paper that I used for my ornament card earlier; I used the Coffee Background Stamp and the Mini Sweets Stamp Set. I wrote my sentiment on a tag and used a white brad to attach it.
While I used these for a card; wouldn't they be great for a tag to attach to a coffee cup with a sample of Coffee tucked inside; you could even add a saying like: "To our special friends who are so dear, We wish you all a cup of cheer!" Quick and easy gift for those on your list.

On the Fifth Day . . .
of Christmas, QKD gave to me -- Happy Holly Days!
Okay, again a traditional Christmas stamp set; of course, with the fabulous snow flakes, you could use it for a winter project. I used it for my 3-D Christmas ornament. I used my Cricut to cut out three star shapes (you could use stars, circles, etc. I have even done this with Christmas trees with my students. Just make sure that what ever you decide to use that it is asymmetrical.) I used three, but depending on how many panels you want you could add more; for circles, I usually use five or six.
After cutting out my stars, I then used one of the snowflake stamps from Happy Holly Days and my Tim Holtz distress inks to randomly stamp on the stars. Then I used my bone folder to score the lines and folded and glued together.
I then punched a hole in top and threaded in my ribbon. But think about this project; after I finished I realized that if you do name cards for Christmas wouldn't this be a great way to mark someone's place. I would use the three panels, but do not score and fold the third star. Fold and score two stars and glue to the third one; you could write the person's name on the flat third panel.
Tomorrow is a fun, non-traditional card.
While you are at it today, make sure you stop by QKD's store because it is new release day!! The Wednesday group is hoping along today, so make sure you start from the QKD blog and follow them along.

On the Fourth Day of Christmas . . .
QKD gave to me a background stamp set -- the Fairy Background Stamp Set. I love this stamp set; it is great for adding a monochromatic pattern to a solid patterned paper. I decided to go with an ornament card today! That's right, this is a card. It opens at the top.
I stamped my background stamp on the card and then added a strip of patterned paper in the center. A little glittery twig of mistletoe adds the added bling to the overall design. So, just think, you can use those wonderful background stamps (and QKD has so many fabulous designs) you have for Christmas!
Come back tomorrow to see what other ornament I have created!

On the Third Day of Christmas . . . Plus New Release Blog Hop - QKD
It is time again for the QKD sneak peak release hop! Can you say that three times? Yes, three times since today is my third day of Christmas here on the blog!
For the QKD blog hop, you should have come here from my Saturday stamping partner Helene, if not, head back to the QKD blog and start from the beginning!
I am loving the new releases so far!!! I absolutely love Melia's dragons (remember the Christmas Tree Dragon from Saturday!) and when I saw Frozen Dragon, I had to have him. He is just adorable with that pouty look on his face.
I used red flocking on his coat and on his hat, but it didn't photograph well. But, making this gift card holder was such a fun and easy project. I used double-sided patterned paper, folded it, stapled it and it was finished! Here are some side views of the project.
Thanks for stopping by, now it is time to head off to Meredith's blog! I can't wait to see what she has created!

On the Second Day of Christmas . . .
QKD gave to me two bicycle tires. What! LOL! Okay, I am trying to keep up with the theme of the song, but it really isn't working that well.
But my project for today is a card using the Ride with Me stamp set. I stamped the presents on another piece of cardstock and then layered on to my card base.
While this stamp set has all the extras that can work for the holidays, the bicycle part could also used for a layout about riding bikes, the first bike, etc.
So, today's project is somewhat of a non-traditional Christmas stamp set. Stay tuned for tomorrow's sneak peak blog hop. I have another dragon to share!!!!

On the First Day . . .
of Christmas, Queen Kat Designs gave to me a Dragon with a Christmas tree.
That's right! I am trying to get in the Christmas spirit and being the scrooge that I am, it is a struggle, but how can you not smile when you see that dragon! He is just adorable! That is one of the great parts of the Christmas stamps at QKD -- there are the traditional ones that I will share later on during my 12 Days of Christmas and the whimsical ones! And don't forget to think outside the box for Christmas ideas! So join me for these next days to see the fun ways to use Queen Kat Designs stamps for your Christmas projects.

Royal Kat Monday - Queen Kat Designs
Okay, it is another week of QKD Royal Monday Blog Hop! But before I get to the hop -- check out the new Twilight stamps in the store! Perfect for either Team Jacob or Team Edward!!!
Okay, now back to the challenge -- this week was an inspiration challenge, check out the QKD blog for the inspiration piece. You should have come from Helene's blog; if not head back to QKD blog and start from the beginning.
I pulled out my Basic Grey patterned paper and loved the blue colors in it, so I decided to use it for my card. Once I colored Sweet Lolita with blues and gave her some blond hair, I decided to back the blue with the orange/yellow Basic Grey. The white pattern in the orange/yellow BG reminded me of the chandelier from the inspiration piece.
Now, head off to Meredith's blog and see how she was inspired.
And there are some great sales right now: November 8th through November 30th

Royal Monday Blog Hop
So, here it is, time again for the Queen Kat Designs Royal Monday blog hop. If you came here from the blog of my Saturday posting partner Helene, then you are on the right track, if not, then head back to the QKD blog and start from the beginning so you do not miss anything at all!!
This week was to use a sketch by the fabulous Queen Kat herself!
I turned it a bit to come up with my card:
I used the Bat Winged Lolita stamp and the Fairy Background Stamp for my card. Thanks for stopping by, so now it is time to head off to Meredith's blog.
Then stop back in on Wednesday for the other QKD hop.

Release Week - QKD
It is that time again!!! It is release week at Queen Kat Designs. The new stamps will hit the store on Wednesday, but the fabulous Monday blog hoppers get to give you a preview!!! Isn't is so exciting!!!! And on Wednesday, the other hoppers will get to show you their samples with the sets!!!
But before I show you my preview, I also want to mention a special Birthday hop and release on November 19. That's right. It is QKD's birthday!!! Party, party, party!!!
You should have made it here by hopping from the ever creative blog of Helene!
So, for my project, I used Bunny Chan. She was so much fun to play with! Okay, I don't have any Copics, so I have to think outside the box a little when I am coloring my images. For this layout, I stamped Bunny Chan on some vellum (don't you have some in your stash as well). Then I colored on the reverse side of the stamped image. And the markers that I used are my daughter's Crayola! Yes, that's right Crayola. So, I definitely don't have the cool blended look but I love how the image turned out and then I added it to my layout.
Thanks so much for stopping by!!! Now head off to Meredith's blog to see what fabulous creation she has to share today!
And as you are hopping along, don't forget to head to the store for this week's special: Buy 2 stamp sets get 1 separates stamp free ($3.99 or less) or buy 3 separates get 1 free.
Don't forget Wednesday's hop!!!
Here is the complete list for today's hop.
